The Administrative templates for Group Policy have been updated for the Windows 10 Anniversary Update release. The files were not available on the release day but were available for download a few days later.
The download of the ‘Administrative Templates for Windows 10’ was updated when version 1511 was released last November. With the recent release of version 1607, I assumed that same download would be updated again. Instead, a new download was created to provide the latest version of the ADMX templates for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016. The file has a published date of August 5th and can be downloaded from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53430
Group Policy tools use Administrative template files to populate policy settings in the user interface. This allows administrators to manage registry-based policy settings.
This download includes the Administrative templates released for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.
Once you download the 8.1MB .msi file, you can run the Windows Installer file and specify where the files should be extracted. From there, you can copy the .admx and .adml files for your language(s) to your Central Store and use the new policies from anywhere in the domain with the Group Policy Management Console.
If you would like to see what the new policies entail, you can download the updated ‘Group Policy Settings Reference for Windows and Windows Server‘ spreadsheet to explore the settings.
