Yahoo wants to get in on the popularity of video games and the growing Esports community. Today, the company launched Yahoo ESports. It is a channel on Yahoo dedicated to some of the most popular games out there – League of Legends, Dota 2, CS:GO, Hearthstone, Street Fighter V, and others. The new site, at esports.yahoo.com, promises to cover esports with the same level of interest as regular sports.
Yahoo Esports will be a comprehensive guide, combining editorial and video commentary, match pages, team rosters, stats, related schedules and scores. The site will also have a live chat feature where fans can connect with the community and cheer for their favorite teams. At launch, Yahoo Esports will focus its coverage around “League of Legends,” “Dota 2,” “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,” “Heroes of the Storm,” and “Street Fighter V” with additional titles being added over time.
Andrea Rene will host while experts Travis Gafford, Taylor Cocke, and Dylan Walker provide weekly coverage on these popular games with more titles being added over time. Yahoo hopes that this will the one place that fans will have to check for analysis, video content, live matches, team rosters, schedules, and chat. They also promise to hide all spoilers by default in case you’re catching up on a late night game the next morning. If you are part of the 226 million Esport fans, check out https://esports.yahoo.com
