Amazon announced their latest offering this morning, Kindle Unlimited. It is a subscription service for ebooks and a 3-month credit for Audible audiobooks. For $9.99 per month, you get unlimited access to over 600,000 titles and thousands of audiobooks. It works across the various Kindle models and other devices with the Kindle apps. You can have up to 10 books out at a time across six different devices.
The new service is being advertised on the homepage and has its own page at www.amazon.com/kindleunlimited. The subscription can be canceled at any time and you can start a 30-day free trial to check it out. The service also comes with a 3 month trial of Audible, Amazon’s Audiobook store. Kindle Unlimited provides access to popular titles like the Hunger Games series, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Harry Potter series as well as many other popular titles. This builds on but is independent of the Kindle Owners Lending Library that allows Amazon Prime members with Kindle devices to borrow one book a month for free. Amazon Prime membership which also includes free 2-day shipping, free instant video streaming, and recently added free music streaming comes with a 30 day free trial as well or is available at a discounted rate for students with a .edu email address with Amazon Student.
