As Microsoft continues to roll out new products (Windows 8, Microsoft Surface, and Windows 8 Phone), Microsoft Press is continuing their pattern of giving out free e-books. We’ve previously seen Introducing Server 2012 and Windows 8 Overview for IT Professionals. Today, Microsoft Press is giving away a free ebook titled Programming Windows 8 Apps with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
The book is currently available as a PDF with plans to be offered as an ePub and Mobi format in the near future. That will be great since the .mobi will make it more Kindle friendly.
In addition to the book, you can download the book’s companion content to go along with your reading.
This free ebook provides comprehensive coverage of the platform for Windows Store apps. Since its second preview in August, we’ve added the remaining chapters on live tiles, notifications, background tasks, background transfers, networking, devices, printing, WinRT components, accessibility, localization, and the Windows Store itself. The final ebook contains 17 chapters. And of course all of the earlier chapters have also been reviewed and refined—over 800 pages in total, along with new and updated companion content!
You can find more information and the links to download the free ebook and the companion content in today’s announcement from Microsoft Press.
