CompTIA launched a new certification for those in cybersecurity called CSA+. It builds upon the Security+ certificate with a track towards the CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) certificate. One strength of CompTIA certificates are that they are vendor neutral so they can indicate that an IT Professional is prepared no matter what products an organization uses.
Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) brings behavioral analytics to the practice of assessing cyber threats rather than just an emphasis on terminology and practices.
CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) is an international, vendor-neutral cybersecurity certification that applies behavioral analytics to improve the overall state of IT security. CSA+ validates critical knowledge and skills that are required to prevent, detect and combat cybersecurity threats.
CompTIA CSA+ is for IT professionals looking to gain the following security analyst skills:
- Configure and use threat detection tools.
- Perform data analysis.
- Interpret the results to identify vulnerabilities, threats and risks to an organization.
The new certification was announced in February and new study resources are in the works. Searching Amazon for the new CS0-001 exam, three books are returned. In order of availability:
Apr 24, 2017: Sybex’s CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) Study Guide: Exam CS0-001 by Michael J. Chapple and David Seidl
Jun 29, 2017: Pearson IT Certification’s CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) Cert Guide (Certification Guide) by Troy McMillan
Aug 22, 2017: All-In-One’s CompTIA CSA+ Cybersecurity Analyst Certification All-in-One Exam Guide (Exam CS0-001) by Fernando Maymi and Brent Chapman
I have always been partial to the All-In-One exam books and would recommend that one if you can wait until August for the exam guide’s expected release date.
