YouTube is preparing for Super Bowl 51, namely the commercials that air during the big game. YouTube AdBlitz stores all of the commercials so you can rewatch any that you might have missed and vote on your favorites. As this is the 10th year of YouTube’s involvement, they made a slide deck to report the minutes viewed and other stats surrounding YouTube AdBlitz.
YouTube is making some changes to try to involve more ads, according to their post to the YouTube blog:
To continue to spotlight excellence as part of our AdBlitz program, we’ve made two key changes. First, in addition to our main list of AdBlitz winners, we’ll be recognizing top performers in individual categories, like automotive and food & beverage. Second, we’ve seen more and more traditional in-game advertisers choose to launch ads around the Big Game versus during the actual broadcast. This year, these spots will also be eligible to compete in AdBlitz.
Hulu had an “AdZone” for Super Bowl commercials in 2015 but it doesn’t look like it has been updated since.
