Back in June, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced the specification for Bluetooth 5, the next generation for the Personal Area Network technology. This week, that specification was officially adopted according to the announcement made yesterday on Bluetooth.com.
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) officially adopted Bluetooth 5 as the latest version of the Bluetooth core specification this week. Key updates to Bluetooth 5 include longer range, faster speed, and larger broadcast message capacity, as well as improved interoperability and coexistence with other wireless technologies. Bluetooth 5 continues to advance the Internet of Things (IoT) experience by enabling simple and effortless interactions across the vast range of connected devices.
These improvements to the wireless standard allows it to cover entire homes and building with its four times range while coexisting with other wireless technologies. It also now features double the speed and eight times the message capacity. Bluetooth 5 maintains the low-energy advancements of previous generations.
