Citrix GoToMyPC has published to their status page an incident that has resulted in all users’ passwords being reset. As explained in an email to customers, the service was “targeted by a very sophisticated password attack.”
The status page for this incident reveals little other details beyond a timeline of events. It began yesterday and has been updated to provide suggestions for creating strong passwords or using two-factor authentication.
The company has been busy on Twitter fielding questions to assist people logging into the service. To login, you will need to use the “Forgot Password” link which will request your email address and will send you a link to reset the account’s password.
Of course, if you use the same password with any other services, we also recommend that you change that password and avoid password re-use in the future for these reasons.
