Amazon tweaked their 7″ display, $50 Fire tablet today. The new line expands the tablet’s internal storage to 8GB or 16GB and expands beyond just the black shell to also include blue, magenta, and tangerine options. At 8GB and with special offers, this Fire tablet will only cost you $49.99. Upgrading to 16GB is an extra $20 and removing special offers is an extra $15.
The Fire still includes front and rear-facing cameras, expandable storage via microSD up to 128GB, and all-day battery life. It runs Fire OS 5 and include’s Amazon’s Blue Shade feature to reduce blue light for nighttime reading and Amazon ASAP, X-Ray, Second Screen, Amazon FreeTime, and more.
You can order the updated Fire tablet for $49.99 from Amazon. The refresh does, unfortunately, bring the buy-5, get-one-free six pack deal that Amazon was offering for the tablet when it was announced last September.
The Fire Kids edition was also updated with a new color option and additional internal storage of 8GB or 16GB. Previously available in pink and blue, it is now available in green. The 8GB option is available for $99.99 today and it still includes the free replacement protection. Add an extra $20 for the 16GB configuration.
