Amazon has announced the latest Kindle e-reader. The Kindle Oasis will be released on April 27th for $289.99. It is a black 6-inch reader with WiFi. The Oasis, as rumored ahead of the announcement, is thinner and lighter than previous Kindles. The e-ink extends the battery life compared to a tablet and even though the Oasis included 10 LEDs for lighting the text, the battery lasts months. Another mechanism to lengthening the battery life is in the included charging cover. Containing another battery, the leather charge cover will charge and provide power along with the device.
The Kindle Oasis has a tapered design with a thicker side as a handgrip (and assumedly the location for the electronics and battery). The page turn buttons are located on the front of the bezel as well.
The Kindle Oasis is now the priciest of the Kindle E-reader family but is feature loaded with a touchscreen, more LEDs, and longer battery life. You can pre-order the Kindle Oasis from Amazon.
