Windows 10 v1511 came with a new Snap Assist feature to automatically resize other snapped windows that are adjacent to a window you resize. I find this setting to be pretty convenient. It even works if the adjacent window is not the top most window. This only works for two windows next to each other. The 2 x 2 or 2 x 1 arrangements don’t seem to be able to take advantage of this.
You can see the Snap Resize feature demonstrated in the following video. At the 1 minute mark, you see the Snap Assist feature pop up in the empty corner suggesting windows that might fill that space.
I use the Windows key + arrow keys to make window snapping even easier.
While limited, I think the Snap Resize feature could be nice to have, I could see it making some rearrangements more difficult. I like the Snap Resize a lot more than the Snap Assist. Whether you agree with me or think the opposite, you can find the controls for these settings to enable them (default) or disable them under Settings. Click Settings on the Start Menu and then choose Multitasking in the left pane. There, you find thesettings to disable Snap or just the minor features like Snap Assist or Snap Resize.
Snap: Arrange windows automatically by dragging them to the sides or corners of the screen
Snap Assist: When I snap a window, show what I can snap next to it
Snap Resize: When I resize a snapped window, simultaneously resize any adjacent snapped windows
