This image is a fun stroll through the history of Microsoft Office. I cannot say that I have been involved since the beginning, so it was neat to learn the early versions. I first remember Office 95 in school with much stronger familiarity starting with Office 97 and on. Now, I’m customizing installations and deploying Office 2016 for clients. Crazy!
Office started with just Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in November 1990. It grew from there, as did Microsoft’s revenue, which you can see in the background of the image getting closer to $100 billion every year. Of course, many other Microsoft products are contributing to that revenue stream than just Office but it’s certainly a cornerstone to Microsoft’s dominance.
