WD introduced the 7th generation of their My Passport external hard drives today. They are available in 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities with a 3 TB option coming next month. The drives are USB 3.0 to make adding and accessing files that much faster.
The latest edition of the My Passport Ultra is available in 4 colors – Classic Black, Brilliant White, Wild Berry, and Noble Blue. WD is also introducing an accessory to increase the unique style options. A separate, optional accessory is the WD Grip Pack, a soft band that will wrap around the drive, available in five complementary colors – smoke, slate, grape, sky, and fuscia. In addition to the band, the WD Grip Pack will also come with a color-matching 18-inch USB 3.0 cable.
In addition to the sleeker redesign of the My Passport and the new 3TB capacity, the My Passport Ultra and My Passport for Mac also includes 256-bit AES hardware encryption to keep your files secure. The My Passport Ultra comes with backup software built-in, which has now been made easier to use. Lastly, both drives include a 3-year limited warranty.
The My Passport Ultra and My Passport for Mac are available today (with the 3 TB option coming next month) ranging in price from $79.99 to $199.99. The WD Grip Pack accessories will be available in June for an MSRP of $12.99.
