With the new Windows 8.1 Update arriving this week (unless you use WSUS), I grabbed the updated Administrative Templates for Group Policy. I use a Central Store for my environment, so I copied the updated .admx templates to there and now all policy administrators have the updated policies to manage the new settings.
I was specifically looking for the new Internet Explorer 11 settings, so I could experiment with the new Enterprise Mode setting. Microsoft has the Administrative Templates for Internet Explorer 11 available for download and it was just published this week. Unfortunately, it’s the old .adm format instead of the new .admx format. To get the modern format of the Administrative Templates, I copied the recently modified files from C:windowsPolicyDefinitions
Taskbar.admx
Printing.admx
inetres.admx
EAIME.admx
StartMenu.admx
And from the en-us sub-folder, I grabbed these accompanying files.
InetRes.adml
Printing.adml
EAIME.adml
StartMenu.adml
SkyDrive.adml (descriptions change to say ‘OneDrive’ instead of ‘SkyDrive’)
Taskbar.adml
Once I had those files copied over to the Central Store, I could edit a GPO and see the new settings, such as the IE 11 Enterprise Mode setting under Computer ConfigurationPoliciesWindows ComponentsInternet Explorer.
