Shortly after sharing Mark Crummett’s art of tiny people among electronic components, he e-mailed me to share another piece of his art that he thought we might like.
These are from his series called Techno Tribal Fetish Wands.
Two pieces of wood nailed together are just two bits of wood nailed together. Call it a cross and it becomes Something. If you believe that some vacuum tubes and thorns attached to a stick will help channel the forces of the computer gods, well, who’s to say it won’t? It makes about as much sense as some of the other troubleshooting techniques I’ve seen.
You could picture the wand being used by somebody that “just wants their computer to work” so they say abra-cadabra and cast a spell on the computer, wand in hand. Perhaps you see the future as more bleak. In a dystopian future after a nuclear apocalypse, human population will be decreased and scattered. Shamans will rise to lead their new tribes, making wands out of old electronic components sitting around to show their authority.
No matter what story you come up with, check out the wands and miniwands from Mark Crummett. Here is just a small sample that I liked.
