Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are getting an overhaul to allow information about you pass between products. While the benefits to that are obvious, so is the (justified?) paranoia that the amount of data Google has on you is a little too alarming.
We’re getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that’s a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.
This stuff matters, so please take a few minutes to read our updated Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service now. These changes will take effect on March 1, 2012.
Cute videos aside, is this the end of “Do no evil” or just a natural evolution of Google trying to become a platform starting with Google+? Your choice is to accept the changes or discontinue using Google products. I’ve already been using DuckDuckGo for my web searches after frustrations just continued to mount with Google’s updates. My Android phone, gMail, Google Calendar? Well, those are a different story.
