Last night, a post was made to the Photoshop.com blog to explain in detail a technology that was shown off at the Adobe Max conference through their Sneaks program. The feature shown off that may make it into future versions of Photoshop is called Deblur. It allows you to remove the blur from a photo and restore it to a crisp, focused image.
The demo picture speaks a lot to the power of this:
Original picture on the left, deblurred on the right. Click to zoom.
You can see the demo from the Max conference with a few other pictures, including a poster of text that becomes readable after being deblurred.
You can read the Photoshop.com blog post for more details behind deblur. Hopefully they can make this technology more consistent, reliable, and easy to use, and then we’ll see it in the next version of Photoshop.
“Zoom in and enhance!” might not be so far away, CSI.
