Google Celebrates Jim Henson’s 75th Birthday With Digital Puppets Doodle

Jim Henson, the famous puppeteer and mind behind The Muppets, would have celebrated his 75th birthday on September 24th, 2011. Google is celebrating the man with an original Google Doodle on their search page that allows people to play with digital puppetry. Six digitized puppets based on Jim Henson’s work are arranged in the G-o-o-g-l-e layout and with a click of the button beneath them, you can have them move their mouth. They’ll also follow your mouse so you can make them quite animated and put on quite a show. There are also a few easter eggs to uncover like the pink guy’s glasses flipping around (captured below).

Google shared an article from Brian Henson, son of Jim Henson and Chairman of The Jim Henson Company, on the official Google BlogThe Jim Henson Company explained a bit more about the doodle in a YouTube video embedded below.

You can check out the doodle for yourself at Google.com.
