As announced on the YouTube blog yesterday, a new feature has been rolled out that allows you to do some editing of your videos on YouTube instead of being required to do that editing beforehand with a separate video editor.
Starting today, you can edit your uploaded videos right on YouTube and maintain the same video IDs. This means you keep your view count and comments, and all existing links to your video will continue to work. No re-uploading necessary!
The edits currently available include the ability to trim the start and end times of videos and rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise. You can also adjust the fill light, contrast, saturation, and color temperature with an ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ button for one-click color correction. You can add Black and White, Sepia, Cross Process, Lomo-ish, Old-Fashioned, Cartoon, or eight other effects to the video. You can also add soundtracks to go with your video.
It even has a quick preview so you can see how the edits will turn out before it gets fully processed. If you change your mind and didn’t like the edits, you can revert to the original.
