The bigger these systems get, the more they get intertwined. I had the pleasure of receiving an error with the deployment of ActiveX Adobe Flash. The error message I was gettings says “Error 2753. The File ‘InstallPlugin.exe’ is not marked for installation. Apparently after enabling the Anti-Spyware module for my organization’s installation of McAfee through the ePolicy Orchestrator, it began blocking by Group Policy deployment of Adobe Flash but only the Internet Explorer (ActiveX) version while the plugin version would install just fine.
Fortunately for me, I’m not the first one to see this error. There were a few threads over on Adobe’s forums discussing the same issue trying to figure out a solution. From the forum, McAfee Anti-Spyware was found to be the culprit. The solution is to add these three processes to the VirusScan Enterprise Access Protection Policies, Anti-spyware Standard Protection processes to exclude either on the client or through ePolicy Orchestrator.
- InstallAX.exe
- FlashUtil10h.exe
- Uninstall_flash_player.exe
After making this change, waiting for the policy to be enforced, and restarting, the Flash for IE deployment finally went through.
