Ctrl+Alt+Del, the high quality and popular webcomic, changed the URL to its RSS feed at the end of July this year. Many people, including myself, left the old RSS feed address in their RSS feed readers which lay dormant for the past two-plus months. Tonight, causing some confusion, the feed came back to life with 14 posts and counting with content completely unrelated to the webcomic.
It appears the RSS feed URL, which routes through FeedBurner, is now controlled by a low-quality blog titled Free Lil Boosie.
The content of the blog varies from covering the currently-indicted-for-murder rapper Lil Boosie to also discussing scam bots and get-rich-quick schemes.
Although an issue easily resolved by unsubscribing from the feed, it is interesting to note that statistics in Google Reader reflect that the feed has over 4,000 subscribers currently. I have a very hard time believing that that many subscribers would have joined immediately today and a very easy time believing that 4,000 stragglers from CAD still subscribe to the feed. There was some discussion of the problem from the TimCAD Twitter account in response to inquiries.
It would be interesting to know how long one has to wait before FeedBurner frees up a previously used URL and if FeedBurner squatting might become a new trend.
I recommend that anybody with the now hijacked RSS feed unsubscribe from it. As of publishing, the correct and current URL to Ctrl+Alt+Del‘s RSS feed is: http://www.cad-comic.com/rss/rss.xml
