I have my e-mail filter into a few different folders based on who the sender is. This lets me keep my inbox a little more organized and keeps listserv conversations separated into their own folders. The only problem with this setup was that I wasn’t being informed that there were new messages arriving in these folders, only the inbox. I would have to manually click on each filtered folder and open it to find out if there were new, unread messages.
Thunderbird has a buried setting that will make this part of the automatic message checking.
With Thunderbird open, go to Tools, Options…
Under the Advanced Tab, and General sub-tab, click the Config Editor…
In the about:config, type ‘check’ in the filter mode to reduce the number of setting shown. Find mail.check_all_imap_folders_for_new. Its value is set to ‘False’ by default. Double-click it to toggle it to ‘True’.
Close the about:config window and your folders should now be checked at the same interval as your inbox for new messages.
