I know desktop wallpapers seem to have had their time in the sun and now their hype is done and gone. I think a big part of that has been that few wallpapers are made with wide-screen monitors in mind; wallpapers are lagging behind increasing resolutions. Standard wallpapers at full screen resolutions just don’t look good on the wide-screen monitors and usually result in some borders around the image.
The line between a big monitor and a TV is becoming increasingly blurred. The high resolutions these use are typically hard to find matching wallpapers. Fortunately, a website out there called InterfaceLIFT has a great stock selection of Wallpapers with resolutions ranging from 320×240 on mobile devices on up to 1080p HDTVs and 2560×1600 Widescreen monitors. You can drill down based on resolution: widescreen, fullscreen, HDTV, dual monitors, triple monitors, or mobile devices. You can also find all of these images easily sorted by different aspects: date uploaded, number of downloads, rating, number of comments, or in a random order.
All of the wallpapers are available in a straight-forward manner. There’s no need to register for access to the wallpapers, but you can register if you’d like to rate or comment on wallpapers. Whether you find the perfect image by browsing through the pages by tags or by using the search in the top-left corner, you’ll get simple access to any of the images you see and like. If you like an image in the list, just select the resolution you want from the drop-down below the thumbnail and hit the ‘Download’ button. This will open the image in your browser so you can right-click on it and either save it or use the browser command to set it as your wallpaper.
Check out InterfaceLIFT for some cool, high-res wallpapers.
myHDWallpaper.com is another site to check out for higher-resolution wallpapers. In my opinion, myHDWallpaper is not as good as InterfaceLift. They don’t have as diverse a selection for resolutions, but they still have many higher resolution wallpapers. They have their collection diversified by category such as Abstract, Celebrities, Computer Generated, Nature, Space, Movies, Military, Cars, Sports and a few more.
